Following Jesus should make Christians the happiest and most humble people in the world. Then why does it seem that they always are fighting each other and society? Maybe it’s time to rethink what it means to follow Jesus in the 21st century and rediscover what actually made the first Jesus Followers so different and inviting.
What people hate most about religion are judgmental hypocrites. And maybe we won’t make many friends with this one, but Christians can be the WORST. Like, if Jesus is who he said he was (loving, kind, compassionate), and Christianity is “real,” why are so many people turned off to church because of the people who are in them?! Really, it boils down to this: Hypocrisy is the difference between who we are and who we pretend to be. Well, we hope in listening to this you can find some practical steps to avoiding it, whether you’re a Jesus Follower or not.
As we conclude this series we’ll tackle THE most offensive thing about Christianity: that there’s no other way but Jesus. As we unpack this central & often offensive truth about the Christian faith, we’ll also discover that there’s good news for you in the mix.
For many people the greatest “proof” against God’s existence is the behavior of Christians. In fact, the hypocrisy of Christians and the Church is one of the biggest problems of Christianity. The first step in dealing with the problem of hypocrisy is admitting it’s true. The second step is getting an accurate view of how to be a Christian and live out the Christian faith; this is achieved only by closely looking at its founder, Jesus and understanding the real and true message of Christianity. Because the truth is Jesus hates hypocrisy, but died for sinners. Listen in for more…
– A few simple songs (usually a guitar and maybe a violin and percussion) to sing along with or just listen to. – A short message (similar to our YouTube/podcast style messages) – Communion together (all are welcome at the table, but you can also skip this). – A final song and a simple prayer. – Afterwards, an optional snack while you meet some folks.
All in all, should last about an hour.
How many people will be there? 🤓
We are a small church, like a majority of churches in America! Weekly we see between 25 and 45 people gathering in the main room. It just depends. If you want to hide in the back, you still can!
What do you offer for kids? 👨👧👧
We have kids’ classrooms for nursery/pre-k and for elementary kids through grade 5. Our volunteers are background checked and there are always open doors and multiple volunteers. You can also keep your kids in the service with you. It’ll be an hour long. Email us with any specific kid-related questions! info@yourcrosscreek.com
Do I have to believe in Jesus to attend? 🙋🏽
No. We created this church in 2017 to be a place where faith in Jesus can be explored, and isn’t demanded, assumed or expected.
We welcome your questions, your doubts, and the process of faith. You don’t have to believe to belong.
And we won’t make any assumptions: we promise to explain briefly what’s happening and invite you to join in. You can also sit back and just check things out.
